Quiz show Jeopardy! crowned a new champion on Tuesday, but contestant Brian Henegar’s general knowledge isn’t what caused the most interest.

Some viewers were instead focused on his appearance during the popular game show, which will be coming to the UK soon.

Many people took to social media platforms to compare Brian’s look to Adolf Hitler.

One person wrote on Twitter: ‘Congratulations to Hitler for winning Jeopardy tonight’, and another added: ‘Is it just me or does that Jeopardy contestant look like Hitler?’

Brian decided to address the upsetting comments.

He revealed that although the moustache had been around for 10 years he was planning to shave it off citing the upkeep as the main reason.

Brian although did later have a change of heart about what to do when it comes to his moustache.

Instead of getting rid of it completely, he plans to grow a goatee.

‘I run the risk of making myself look like my evil twin from a parallel universe,’ he joked.

He added: ‘To all your jerkolas you thought comparing my appearance to one of the most evil dictators who ever lived was the height of comedy, when I get my Jeopardy winnings, I will be making a donation to the Anti-Defamation League.’

Brian hopes that ‘some good’ will then come from the ‘hate’.

The 40-year-old won an impressive $23,201 (£18,640) on the American game show, so he will be able to make a substantial donation.

The reaction to Brian wasn’t all negative. A lot of people praised the Tennessee guest services agent for his enthusiasm.

When host Ken Jennings informed Brian that he’d won, he gripped the podium and laughed in a moment of genuine surprise.

One person tweeted: ‘Seeing the reaction of tonight’s Jeopardy champ made me so, so happy. It’s cool to see someone so genuinely happy/surprised!’

It won’t be the last audiences see of him. As Brian was successful, he will continually be tasked with defending his title on future episodes until someone outsmarts him.

The game requires contestants to provide a question, rather than the answer. Each person is given clues in the form of answers, and they must identify what the question is.
