Capcom is not okay with all out nudity in Resident Evil 4 but is happy to nickel and dime the players with new microtransactions.
Nine times out of 10 when a new game launches on PC, it’s going to get nude mods, especially if it has reasonably attractive women in it.
Given their not safe for work nature, publishers are naturally going to be less receptive to these when compared to harmless ones like a Pedro Pascal mod for The Last Of Us or putting Thomas the Tank Engine in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
So, it’s not surprising to learn that not only has a Resident Evil 4 nude mod been created, it’s apparently already been removed at Capcom’s request.
Perhaps the only surprising detail about the whole thing is that the mod didn’t apply to Ada Wong but Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter who Leon is sent to rescue.
The mod’s original listing on Nexus Mods now just brings up a message that says ‘The mod you were looking for couldn’t be found.’
The creator of said mod, in the listing for another one of their mods that puts Ashley in a bikini, claims that the removal was made ‘at the request of Capcom’ but doesn’t elaborate any further.
While we’re sure certain individuals are enraged at Capcom’s meddling (probably the same ones who think the remake is already too woke), regular players are concerned with issues beyond not getting to see fake nudity.
The free Mercenaries DLC is now available and while it’s as good as the main game, fans have quickly discovered that it comes with a bunch of paid DLC in the form of weapon upgrade tickets.
Essentially, Capcom is letting you pay real money to speed up the upgrading process. A single ticket costs £2.49 while multipacks of three and five cost £5.78 and £7.99 respectively.
There are 11 pieces of DLC in total and while they are entirely optional, it doesn’t change the fact that Capcom never advertised this. Almost like it knew their presence would attract a lot of negative coverage.
On top of that, two characters from the original 2005 release are missing, suggesting that Capcom plans to add them as paid DLC somewhere down the line.
Resident Evil 4 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
