National Teachers’ Day is an annual celebration of those who dedicate their lives to the education of others.
There has never been a time more apt to say thank you to the nation’s school teachers, as months of lockdown earlier this year saw millions of parents tackling the challenge of home-schooling for the very first time.
Teachers themselves became key workers during the pandemic, and now continue to play a vital role as students begin to catch up on any work missed during lockdown and the six-month stretch of school closures this year.
According to online tutoring platform MyTutor, 62% of parents agree that they now have a greater appreciation for the role that teachers play on a day-to-day basis and many parents celebrated the re-opening of schools and returning their children to a classroom learning environment last month.
When is National Teachers Day?
National Teachers Day is today, Monday October 5 2020.
Celebrated in the UK annually, Teacher’s Day is actually celebrated worldwide on October 5, too.
World Teachers Day is actually a UNESCO day of observance, meaning that the organisation recognises the celebration as marking an ‘important aspect of human life and history’.
The very first World Teachers Day was held on October 5 1994 and has been celebrated on the same date every year since.
