If you think your office could do with a pet, then you’ll envy this workplace in Shanghai that has a bunch of kittens roaming around.
Employees of the design consultancy Holmes & Marchant in China recently became the proud owners of a cat mother and her adorable new litter.
They had encountered the pregnant mum when she was a stray hanging out outside the building .
The kitty would meow each time someone walked past, so eventually one of the office workers decided to take the feline into their workplace.
They later discovered the animal was pregnant.
Just a few days later, the cat – which the employees named Boba – gave birth to eight sweet kittens, who were all born in the office.
Boba was exhausted after giving birth to the huge litter and rested while the employees fussed over the adorable kittens.
Among the new brood were four boys and four girls, with five tabbies, two gingers, and one calico.
Of course, the new resident office pets needed names – the team decided to call the two gingers Pudding and Milk Topping, and the smallest one was given the name of No Ice (translated from Mandarin).
It took the kittens two weeks to first open their eyes, three to eat on their own and a full month to use the litter box.
As the family got bigger, the employees decided to move them to a meeting room where they could roam freely.
Their story was shared by one of the colleagues, Angela Sy, who is a contributor at BoredPanda.
Sharing the experience of meeting their new pets, Angela revealed they first met the mother cat when she ‘rubbed her face on anyone who gave her attention’.
Her colleague, Yvonne, said it was as though Boba was ‘asking for help for her babies and herself’.
The workers then decided to name the pregnant mum Boba as she was ‘so round’ – like the bubbles in bubble tea.
Angela wrote: ‘She was very friendly to everyone and seemed content that she had a safe place to give birth.’
But the cats won’t remain in the meeting rooom forever.
The plan is for them move to forever homes so that they can have a life outside the office, and the team want Boba to be rehomed with at least one of her offspring.
The employees also hope to get Boba spayed so she can’t have more kittens.
We wish we could have one of these cuties in our office.
