Shannen Doherty settled her divorce with her ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko, just hours before her death, it has been claimed.

The actress, most known for her roles in Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210, died over the weekend at the age of 53 – following a battle with cancer.

Tributes poured in from across Hollywood, with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan among those sharing their condolences.

Following the news, it was alleged that she had finalized her separation from her former partner on July 12, the day before she died.

According to documents obtained by People Magazine, she signed documents to wave spousal support, as well as agreeing to a ‘default or uncontested dissolution’ of their marriage – a year after she first filed for divorce.

‘The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court,’ the paperwork read, via the outlet.

Iswarienko is thought to have signed the agreement on July 13 – the day Doherty died – but has not yet spoken publicly over the reports.

The former couple tied the knot in 2011 in a private ceremony in Malibu, but it wasn’t to last and they split last year.

The Hollywood star filed for divorce in April, 2023, after around 14 years together and 11 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

Last month, she alleged that he was ignoring her requests for financial support because he was ‘waiting for her death’ from cancer.

Doherty claimed that Iswarienko was purposefully drawing out their divorce so that it was not finalized before her death, meaning he would not have to pay spousal support – something that his lawyers denied.

‘It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,’ she said in paperwork obtained by People Magazine.

Iswarienko’s lawyer Katherine Heersema insisted: ‘Kurt is not “simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die”.

‘He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.’

Heersema also said that Iswarienko had offered Doherty a settlement deal in October 2023, proving that he did want a resolution but the TV star refused the offer.

Doherty’s publicist confirmed the news of her death on Sunday, releasing a statement.

‘It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,’ they told the publication.

‘The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.’
