An explosive new book claims to reveal the ‘real reason’ Rebecca Loos chose to expose her alleged affair with David Beckham.
The England football icon, 49, is alleged to have had an extra-marital relationship with his former personal assistant Rebecca, 46, for four months while he was playing for Real Madrid in 2003.
David had married Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, 50, five years prior, with whom he shares children Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 12.
The couple touched upon the alleged affair in their Netflix documentary, Beckham, with Victoria saying the aftermath was the ‘hardest period’ of their marriage.
Now, a new book from author Tom Bower, The House of Beckham, claims Rebecca decided to expose the affair due to David’s treatment of a waitress during a seemingly uneventful meal.
‘The turning point for Loos was realising Beckham’s double standards. After a meal for SFX employees at Madrid’s Hard Rock Cafe, Beckham did not leave a tip,’ the author wrote (per The Mirror).
The book, set to be released on June 20, explains how Rebecca was enraged by David’s reluctance to tip the waitress, who explained she ‘survived on the tips’.
Bower continues: ‘The following day, the waitress gave Loos a note for Beckham. Explaining that she survived on the tips, she expressed her anger that someone as famous and rich could be so mean.
‘After reading the note, Beckham was alarmed. “Give her this,” he said handing over a thick wodge of euros. Reflecting in February about how Beckham had played her and lied to her, Loos was angry.’
Addressing the comments in the book, a representative for Rebecca told Metro.co.uk: ‘Tom kindly reached out to Rebecca, whilst writing the book, to verify the content. Rebecca won’t be commenting further.’
David also addressed Rebecca’s claims in his Netflix documentary, saying there were some ‘horrible stories’ that were ‘difficult to deal with.’
‘It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage,’ he continued.
Following the release of the documentary she appeared on Good Morning Britain and said the former England captain has ‘never denied it’ and slammed him for not taking ownership of his ‘mistakes’.
Elsewhere, she explained the toll revisiting her past was taking on her, saying she wants to ‘leave this behind her.’
‘I would rather not have had to talk about this again, I have left this behind me and moved very much on with my life,’ she continued.
‘When this documentary came out… I tried very hard to just let it go and get on with my life but it just really bothered me at the angle and how he played the narrative and how misleading it is and how it’s making me look like a bad person.’
The House of Beckham is released on June 20.
