The Traitors fans have been left in shock seeing a ‘world first’ ending play out on the latest season of the Australian series.

After the jaw-dropping conclusion to season 2 of The Traitors UK last week, the BBC dropped all episodes of the Australian version, which aired Down Under last year.

But while seeing Harry hoodwink close friend Mollie had many screaming at their screens, some have said that conclusion had nothing on what the Aussie Traitors did to secure a win.

For those yet to binge all nine episodes, it’s time to stop reading now.

Throughout the season, there were countless twists and turns as the group of Faithful’s spectacularly (and mostly unwittingly) turned on each other during pretty much every banishment.

Of the 10 roundtables, just one resulted in a Traitor being sent home.

Despite heat repeatedly being put on original Traitor Sam, a 27-year-old marketing consultant, he managed to turn the group’s attention to other players after promising he was on their side.

The cast of 20 contestants included a mix of celebrities and everyday people, with the famous faces including Survivor star Luke Toki, actor Gyton Grantley, former My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard and Below Deck’s Hannah Ferrier.

Alongside Sam, Ash was also an OG Traitor, however lasted just two episodes before his plan to get rid of her succeeded.

Despite his best efforts at times, Sam didn’t have much luck booting out his other fellow Traitor, 35-year-old beer sales manager Blake.

Things came to a head in episode 7 when Blake blew up in Traitors’ Tower after he’d found out Sam had tried to do him dirty and blow his cover.

After an almighty argument, the boys then decided to recruit former federal agent Camille, 53, hoping to use her as a distraction and to take the fall after suspicions were raised about them by an increasing number of people.

The Traitors were largely having the last laugh as the finale approached, banishing Faithful’s Liam and then Sarah at the last hurdle.

After the shocking moment in which Sarah (who genuinely had no clue what was going on most of the game) realised she was in the finale with three Traitors and wasn’t going to get a cent of the $208,000 (£107,000), it then came time for the final three to make their decision on the Traitor’s Dilemma.

There were then three ways the game could have concluded after they were given the choice to Share or Steal.

If all Traitors chose to share, they would get an equal split of the pot.

Camille.

Another way the game could have ended was that if a Traitor had chosen the Steal option, anyone who chose to Share would miss out on the pot, while stealing would either leave one Traitor with all the money or sharing with another player who also decided to steal.

However, things played out with the third option, with saw the prize pool left unclaimed after Sam, Blake and Camille all chose to Steal.

While Sam and Blake had conspired to both Steal and leave Camille without any money, she realised she couldn’t trust them and decided to make sure their backstabbing left them with nothing too.

When the moment of truth came, Camille declared that if she wasn’t going to win, ‘none of us were going to’.

Despite their plans to leave her in their wake, the boys lost it, with Blake breaking down and Sam hitting out, saying he ‘had trust’ in Camille being loyal, despite the fact he had stepped over anyone who had got in his way the entire game.

Sam.

‘The way I’ve seen Sam lie and told me we would do it (share the money)- it didn’t feel genuine,’ she said.

Lashing out Sam then said he and Blake had ‘deserved’ the prize money and Camille ‘should have let us have it’.

After Camille said the result was just ‘part of the game’, Sam again made it clear he was mad: ‘That’s what a rich person would say.’

In tears, Blake then walked off saying he was done before Camille got tired of getting a verbal lashing from Sam and also left.

As host Rodger Corser declared, justice was ‘a dish best served cold’.

Unsurprisingly, many viewers flocked to social media to share their reactiosn to what unfolded.

‘The ending. If you’re sad #TraitorsUK has finished get #TraitorsAU watched immediately,’ Kerry Whitney shared on X.

‘Omg this really is the series of dumb dumbs. How many times did you sit at the table with Sam as your vote then change it argghhhh. Absolutely loved the ending well deserved,’ user Becks posted.

‘OK so the ending was EXCEPTIONAL. Sam’s stupid face was priceless – major spiteful Kendal Roy vibes at the end. What an absolute dirtbag. Thank you Camille, you legend,’ Michael A Oakes added.

Rhiannon Nelson said it was ‘the best ending of any of the series yet’.

Meanwhile Jason said the ending would ‘mess with your mind’.

Speaking after the finale, Camille told Yahoo! Lifestyle it was a ‘no brainer’ to write steal to ‘wipe the look from Sam’s face’.

‘Sam used and manipulated players and he thought I was just another pawn in his game of Traitors chess. I knew I was going to cancel payday,’ she said.

Despite the incredible conclusion to the roller coaster season, the Australian version of The Traitors was actually cancelled a few weeks later due to low ratings.

According to reports, the first season averaging just 250,000 metro viewers per episode, while the second season premiere drew just 216,000 metro viewers.

The Traitors Australia is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
