Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid actor Charles Dierkop dies aged 87

Charles Dierkop, the character actor best known for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, has died aged 87.

Dierkop, who played outlaw George ‘Flat Nose’ Curry in the Paul Newman and Robert Redford classic Western film, died on Sunday at Sherman Oaks Hospital in LA (February 25).

His daughter Lynn told The Hollywood Reporter he died after a recent heart attack and bout of pneumonia.

Dierkop’s other major roles were starring alongside Newman and Redford again in the caper film The Sting and in the police procedural Police Woman, featuring Angie Dickinson.
