Britney Spears’ track Toxic has caused a stir online after fans unearthed revelations about the song’s inspiration.
The 41-year-old singer first put out her mega-hit in 2003 but now fans think it could have been written about a very familiar British TV star.
Supporters of the pop sensation claimed the saucy lyrics were actually about Supervet Dr Noel Fitzpatric – and no one can really get their heads around it.
Their detective work stumbled upon a coincidence that caused them to think the vet could have been a source of pain when the track was written.
Toxic was co-penned by Cathy Dennis, 54, who put the song’s lyrics on paper the same year that she broke up with Noel, 55.
Social media came alive with comments about the speculative information and one user by the moniker of PopB***h said: ‘The man who inspired the Britney Spears track Toxic was someone that the song’s co-writer Cathy Dennis had been dating in the early 2000s, who broke up with her in 2003: Noel Fitzpatrick.
‘It’s unlikely you’d have known who he was at the time (unless you had a sick spaniel) but he’s better known to most people nowadays as Channel 4’s Supervet!’ [sic].’
Not the first time the idea has been floated, the famous vet was previously questioned over his potential muse-like qualities while appearing on This Morning.
Holly Willoughby asked the animal doctor if he had anything to do with the words that went: ‘I need a hit, baby, give me it. You’re dangerous, I’m loving it.’
She was chatting to him via video link when she said: ‘Are you who that song is written about? Is it you? Please say yes’.
Noel responded with: ‘You may have to ask Kylie Minogue whether I Can’t Get You Out Of My Head is written about me.’
Phillip Schofield then joined in and light-heartedly jibed: ‘You clearly have an influence’.
Reported suggested Kylie had in fact said no to Toxic before the global sound was instead put in front of Britney to sing.
Metro.co.uk contacted Noel and Britney’s reps for comment.
