Bling Empire star Anna Shay has died, her family has confirmed.
It’s said the 62-year-old had a stroke and died on Monday (June 5).
As reported by People, Shay’s loved ones said in a statement: ‘It saddens our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, has passed away at the early age of 62 from a stroke.
‘Anna taught us many life lessons on how not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the finer things.
‘Her impact on our lives will be forever missed but never forgotten.’
Shay was a real hit with Bling Empire viewers, having joined the Netflix series in 2021.
The show follows ‘wildly wealthy Asian and Asian-American fun-seekers as they go all out with parties, glamour and drama in Los Angeles.’
Shay was half-Japanese and half-Russian and, as to be expected, was extremely rich.
In season 1, Kane Lim claimed that Shay’s money was accrued from ‘weapons’.
However, Shay denied this.
‘I asked him, “Why did you say my dad was in arms?”,’ she told People.
‘He goes, “I don’t know”. He thought he knew, but maybe he didn’t know and was just guessing.’
Shay’s father founded Pacific Architects and Engineers (PAE), a defense and government services contractor that worked with the US Government and the United Nations.
The socialite and her younger brother Allen sold PAE to Lockheed Martin in an all-cash, $1.2billion (£965m) deal in 2006.
The TV personality has also spoken previously about never expecting Bling Empire to be so successful.
‘I wasn’t even expecting to be in front of the camera,’ she said.
‘I’m very shy and I went along with whatever situation was happening. I was just being me.’
Shay appeared in the most recent series of Bling Empire in October 2022.
The latest episodes showed Shay advising her co-stars as they navigated fame with their own lavish lifestyles.
She assured them that there are more important things in life than the ‘superficial’.
Although, she was the richest member of the cast by far, with a reported net worth of $600million (£483m).
Meanwhile, her last social media post was on Instagram in December.
She shared a photo with the caption: ‘Wishing everyone happy holiday …
May all your dreams come true. And a very special Thank you to all at the Netflix’
Shay is survived by a son, Kenny Kemp.
