AJ Odudu has revealed she’s taken a step back from one part of her career as she turns to hosting the Big Brother revival.

The 35-year-old was recently announced as the new face of the reboot, alongside TV personality Will Best.

Having previously presented Big Brother spin-offs Big Brother’s Bit on the Side and the same celebrity version back in 2013, fans have been left overjoyed at the news.

But, AJ will now be stepping back from Married At First Sight’s Afters, which she’s been hosting since 2021.

She said: ‘I can’t do it this year – I’m so sad about it. I love Married at First Sight.

‘I’d love to host it again, I’m obsessed with that show but I don’t know when that will happen.’

Speaking about Big Brother, AJ added to The Sun: ‘Everyone has been so complimentary about Big Brother – I’m just enjoying it.’

After it was rumoured that AJ was in ‘final talks’ for the role, the news finally broke that she was taking part, in a tantalising teaser for the upcoming programme, which showed close ups of AJ and Will’s eyes – imitating the iconic Big Brother eye logo – as the theme music played in the background.

‘This is not a drill! I’m beyond excited to finally be able to say that, I am hosting Big Brother! 👁️💥’ AJ said when she posted the teaser.

‘I couldn’t be more ecstatic to front such an iconic show and to do it alongside my amazing friend @iamwillbest is the icing on the cake. Get ready to be obsessed!

‘Big Brother House, I’m coming to get you!’

As well as Big Brother and Married At First Sight’s spin-off, AJ was plummeted into even more fame on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.

She elsewhere proved a huge hit on the relaunch of Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast alongside Mo Gilligan, with many calling for it to become a permanent fixture.

One of her most recent TV projects was The Big Interiors Battle, a show airing ion Channel 4 with the aim of highlighting people and locations that are frequently ‘under-represented’ in the media.

The Big Brother reboot is set to launch on ITV2 and ITVX later this year.
