Cosying up on the sofa with a Christmas movie and a hot chocolate is the perfect festive activity.
And one mum has revealed how she makes an amazing drink using her own handmade hot chocolate bombs.
You’ve been able to pick these up from some shops and online sellers for a while but making your own saves a little cash – plus they are great to give as gifts to friends and family.
The idea is that the bomb is a solid chocolate shell and inside there’s hot chocolate powder and marshmallows so when it’s dropped into hot milk, the shell melts and you get the full effect.
The mum, who posts on @Mama_mila on TikTok, revealed how she starts by melting some chocolate (she uses milk but you could use dark or white chocolate if you prefer) and coats a silicone sphere mould in a thin, even layer, using the back of a teaspoon.
You’re unlikely to have one of these moulds lying around but they can easily be picked up online.
She uses a spoon to spread the chocolate evenly around the mould and then places in the freezer to set.
Once the chocolate has hardened, she adds a few teaspoons of hot chocolate powder and marshmallows so one half of the sphere is full.
She then takes another chocolate sphere half, melts the edges on a warm plate and sticks it to the full sphere half.
She waits for the bombs to set together and they’re then ready to be dropped into hot milk, or packaged up to give as presents.
