It wouldn’t be Christmas without an indulgent festive coffee.
But, with so many cafes and coffee shops closed because of the pandemic, you might have to satisfy your Christmas caffeine cravings at home.
This creamy, boozy and decadent eggnog latte recipe is the perfect thing to liven up your holiday season.
Combining eggnog – a Christmas classic – and coffee which is an all year-round favourite, the experts at Coffee Direct have created a recipe that is ideal for sitting by the fireplace, watching festive movies, or even for an indulgent Christmas breakfast.
Prep: 30 mins
Cook: 5 mins
Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 4 shots espresso (Italian coffee is particularly suitable) or 250ml of strong brew coffee
- 300ml eggnog (see recipe below)
- 150ml milk
- 25g sugar (plus optional: sugar to taste)
- 2 egg yolks
- 40ml water
- 50ml liqueur (optional: brandy or Baileys Irish Cream)
- 200g of condensed milk (approximately half a standard can)
- Whipped cream
- Grated nutmeg
How to make eggnog
Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and simmer until the sugar has completely dissolved. Set aside to cool.
Beat the egg yolks until smooth, then add in the vanilla extract. Add your liqueur of choice (we suggest brandy or Baileys Irish Cream), the condensed milk and cooled sugar syrup.
Mix well and pour into a jug. Ensure it is completely chilled before moving on to create your homemade eggnog latte.
Homemade eggnog latte recipe
Pour two shots of espresso in each coffee mug, or alternatively divide the strong brew coffee.
Combine the eggnog and milk, then steam to create a hot, frothy mixture. If you do not have an espresso machine, warm on the hob until steaming.
Add the eggnog/milk mixture into your coffee mug.
If you prefer your eggnog latte a little sweeter, add sugar to taste.
Garnish with whipped cream and freshly grated nutmeg.
