The costs of wrapping paper can add up every Christmas – especially if you’re bad at wrapping and end up having to start all over again.

So one mum has shared her tip on Facebook for making cheap wrapping paper look much more expensive and personal.

Peta, from Queensland, said she bought an average-looking brown paper from Kmart but transformed it herself to save on costs.

The Australian mum bought a lettered stamp for just $2 (£1.10) to personalise each item she wrapped.

She stamped the name of each person on the paper so everyone would know which gift belongs to them.

What she ended up with was a bunch of personalised presents, all looking uniform and fancy, complete with gold ribbons and bows.

The hack also saved Peta from buying individual Christmas cards for each loved one as the presents were already customised.

‘There’s something magical about wrapping presents [and] the contentment when they’re done,’ she wrote on the Facebook page Christmas Mums and Dads Australia.

‘Next year I’ll be ordering full name custom stamps.’

Members of the group praised Peta for the innovative idea.

‘I love the writing of the names!’ one person said.

Others wrote: ‘It looks beautiful, well done,’ and ‘I used plain brown paper last night to do my daughter’s birthday presents – it’s so nice!’

Of course, plenty of other people have shared their tips.

One mum said how she used a $7 (£3.85) wrapping paper from Kmart to wrap up leftover cardboard boxes to create a chimney.

The chimney was placed next to the tree to give it ultimate Christmas feels and decorated with lights, tinsel, and snow globes.

The mum even had a mini Santa under the makeshift chimney, which is sure to get the kids excited.
