When it comes to dressing up for Halloween 2020, we all know our costumes should probably nod to coronavirus.
After all, if there’s one positive thing that’s come out of the Covid-19 pandemic, surely it’s inspiration for a great costume look.
What could be scarier than a global illness we’re still battling?
Gen Arias has used her skills to create a truly horrifying look along this theme.
The makeup artist from Miami spent two and a half hours applying liquid latex, fake blood, surgical masks, and a mini bottle of hand sanitiser to her face for an impressive Halloween look.
The creation didn’t just take a lot of time and effort, but also cost around $120.
Gen, a self-taught artist who now runs her own business, Glam By Gen, said: ‘I wanted to make a really frightening design this Halloween and of course the pandemic is what is on everyone’s mind.’
Gen has also designed some more traditional looks for the spooky season, including zombies, skulls, vampires, burns and hideous, gaping wounds.
These cost between $60-$200 for her clients.
‘I absolutely love working on special effects style make up, but unfortunately Halloween only comes once a year,’ said Gen.
‘My dream is to work for movies one day.’
