An Eminem fan who has spent thousands of pounds getting inked with 16 portraits of the rapper is trying to get a Guinness World Record for her Eminem-themed tattoos.
Nikki Patterson, 35, first heard song Stan at the age of 14 and even has a dog named Marshall.
Naming the dog after her favourite rapper was a consolation, as her husband wouldn’t let her name their son Marshall Mathers.
Nail technician Nikki, from Aberdeen, has accumulated 16 Eminem portraits in the past three years but has 28 in total inspired by him.
And she has entered the Guinness World Records for having the most tattoos of the same musician though she is yet to hear back from them.
Nikki says the first tattoo she got of him transformed her confidence.
Husband Greg, 45, is not an Eminem fan but tolerates Nikki’s passion, and their son, Joshua, eight, doesn’t like his mum’s body art much.
Most recently Nikki got tiny portraits of her hero on her fingers.
Mum-of-one Nikki said: ‘I heard Stan for the first time when I was 14, and I was blown away.
‘I’ve spent thousands on tattoos, I run my own nail business which was busy before the lockdown and that’s what I spend my money on, I love it.
‘His rhymes are so clever and so deep, he’s got me through the past 20 years.
‘I never thought I’d get a portrait until I saw one and I thought I need that in my life.’
Tattoo artist David Corden did her first inking as well as eight others and has become a pal.
Nikki added: ‘When I get an idea in my head I just run with it.
‘I love the whole thing of getting a great tattoo, I just knew I needed more.
‘I saw a picture that had been taken of Eminem on stage at a gig I was at in Glasgow and asked David if he could do that.’
Nikki believes since getting the first portrait of the iconic rapper, her life has been transformed.
She said: ‘Getting my first portrait, I felt I want to be seen rather than hiding away.
‘I’ve struggled with body issues all my life. I started looking for clothes which would show it off, it’s been one of the happiest periods of my life where I have come into my own.
‘I worried so much about what other people thought about me, now I’m loving how I look in the mirror.
‘I never could have thought when I got my first portrait, what an effect it would have on me.
‘People think I’m a stalker or a psycho or a crazy person, but the artists are unbelievable, I’ve got a relationship with them.
‘It’s so much more than being an Eminem fan.’
Nikki says husband Greg is chilled about her obsession with Eminem.
The couple have been married nine years, but been together for 12.
In that time Nikki has gone from getting song lyrics and references inked, to a portrait of Eminem with fellow D12 rapper Proof on her chest, to album covers, and even pictures of M&Ms.
Nikki said: ‘A lot of people say “what does your husband think of you having another guy tattooed all over your body?”.
‘I think he’s been put off Eminem for life.’
