There’s no denying that avo on toast is delicious.

Avocado on sourdough has been quite the breakfast staple over on Instagram – but now there’s a new brekkie item in town.

Social media users are loving cauliflower cheese on bread now.

Even superstar chefs are getting in on the action including Nigella Lawson, who retweeted a recipe of the meal.

The 60-year-old London chef shared a recipe by Scottish photographer Del Sneddon, who served cheesy cauliflower florets on two slices of thick toast.

Since then, people have been creating their own creamy cauli-cheese on toast meals.

With many people hating on the humble cauliflower, this gooey cheese mashup might be the perfect way to add the vegetable to your diet.

Ingredients

  • Two slices of toast
  • Two cauliflower florets
  • Mozarella
  • Cheddar cheese
  • 20g butter
  • 20g flour
  • 100ml milk
  • Mustard powder
  • Nutmeg

Method

  1. Toast two slices of thick bread and set it aside after setting the oven to gas 9
  2. Then, boil two cauliflower florets for ten minutes, drain them, and set them aside
  3. You’ll then need to make a roux – a white sauce – by adding 20 grams of butter to a pan and then the same amount of flour
  4. Then slowly add 100ml of milk and whisk on low heat until the sauce starts to thicken.
  5. Add two tablespoons of mustard powder and a pinch of nutmeg. Of course, you can add seasoning to your own tastes
  6. Then add half a cup of Mozarella and half of cheddar cheese. Stir it till it becomes a beautiful gooey mixture
  7. Let it cool for five minutes before pouring it onto the unbuttered sides of your toast
  8. Leave it in the oven until it’s golden on top and voila, you’re done.
