When Tara Ward, 28, moved into her flat in West Green, London, there was a tiny patch of grass but she had nowhere to store a lawn mower.

After two years living with the overgrown garden, the 28-year-old, who lives alone at her flat, decided to give herself a lockdown task of completely transforming the tiny garden space she had.

The trainee solicitor started by paving over the grassy area and began searching for her bargains which saw her spending less than £300.

DIY lover Tara started by making her own fake plants using £5 artificial flowers from The Range, bought waterproof cushions on eBay and paid just £100 for two egg chairs which were on offer at Dunelm.

She said: ‘I quite liked having the grass with living in a flat but it’s a really tiny area so it got really overgrown as I didn’t have anywhere to keep a lawnmower – that’s what made me want to get it paved over.

‘Everything I bought was from different places but my go-to place for home interior is The Range – everything is so well priced, and you can find so many nice bits.'”I bought my flat two years ago and am really into home interior, so I like to document all of the changes I make.

‘I love having a little outdoor space that I can go when the weather is nice and it’s rare to have that when you own a flat.

‘Family and friends are just amazed by it – I’ve had so many messages from people asking if I can go and design their gardens!’

After a childhood spent sharing a bedroom, she loves having her own space and somewhere nice to sit outside.

She added: ‘Growing up, I had to share a bedroom with three of my sisters so when I finally got my own place I really wanted to decorate and make it my own as I love having that freedom.’
