It’s safe to say that many of us grew a little tired of our board game collection during lockdown – but there’s a new one in town that’s a twist on a classic.

There’s a brand new edition of Monopoly featuring our favourite Disney villains – but there’s a twist.

Monopoly Disney Villains encourages players to scheme and steal to make the game a little more devious.

There are six baddies to choose from, including Cruella de Vil (101 Dalmatians), Hook (Peter Pan), Scar (The Lion King), the Evil Queen (Snow White), Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) and Jafar (Aladdin). It’s worth pointing out that some additional evil faces appear on the board, too, such as Ursula, Yzma, Gaston and King Candy.

However, this is where the game gets interesting. Instead of buying properties like the normal game requires, players get to buy villains’ loyalty. The winner is the one with the best group of baddies.

Monopoly money also gets an update – instead of bills, there’s gold and silver coins adorned with Jafar’s snake and the Evil Queen’s crown.

Each of the six characters also have a unique ability they can use during the game, some of these include re-rolling the die and stealing coins. This is activated when a player passes “Go”.

Unique abilities in Disney Villains Monopoly:

Jafar – If  you land on the same space as another player, steal five Monopoly coins.

Cruella – If  you pass or land on the same space as another player, you can steal one Monopoly coin.

Maleficent – When a player lands on a Chance space, you can steal one Monopoly coin from them.

Scar – You can steal one Monopoly coin from a player who rolls a six.

Evil Queen – When a player lands on a Poison Apple space, you can steal a Monopoly coin from them.

Hook – If you don’t like the number you’ve rolled, you can re-roll the dice again.

Also, if a player doesn’t notice someone has landed on their property, they don’t have to pay rent.

In addition, there’s a new set of 16 Poison Apple cards which tell players to steal money, property, or send another player to jail.

In total the game is designed to be played in 45 minutes or less – which is considerably quicker than other versions.
