Yes, rosé wine comes in cans and yes, it can be just as good as your standard bottle with a corkscrew.
The cans are lighter for picnics and can be more environmentally-friendly thanks to their recyclable material.
But most importantly, do they taste as good?
Mark Woollard, co-founder at the canned wine company HUN Wine, tells Metro.co.uk: “Everyone loves a cheeky glass of rosé. With the advancement of canning technology, you really can get great tasting rosé.
It gives people all the benefits that cans provide- they stay cooler for longer, are easier to transport and removes the need to open a whole bottle.”
So here are some of Bar Fox’s top picks of pink wine in a tin:
Mirabeau Pret-a-Porter Rosé, £3.49, Waitrose
Mirabeau rosé is already multi-award winning and now it’s extra transportable. The wine is described as having hints of apricot and red summer fruits. Ideal for some chilled out summer drinking.
IGO Organic Rosé, £4.99, Waitrose
All the way from aged vines in Navarra, this organic rosé comes as a 250ml measure so it can be shared between two.
The cans are also fully recyclable, which is a major sustainability win. The wine has notes of raspberry and pomegranate, perfect for picnics.
Nice Pale Rosé, £2.65, Sainsbury’s
The can of ‘Nice’ is a pale rosé from Southern France, near Montpellier. The wine is crisp, dry and also suitable for vegans.
It comes served in a smaller 187ml can so there is no sharing involved with this one.
HUN Wines, 6 for £18.00, Wine Buyers
HUN rosé is a pale Provence style wine, from South Africa. It has lovely grapefruit tones, with a touch of acidity.
It’s another wine that is vegan, as well as being fairtrade.
MINIVINO Rosé, £2.50, Sainsbury’s
MINIVINO wines have kept Bar Fox company on train journeys before, but we had never tried out their rosé single-serve cup.
The rosé cup (you can get a can if you prefer) is fully recyclable and vegan, with the wine originating from the Veneto region of Italy.
Larkin Larkan Pink, from supplier
This Pinot Noir rosé is made by a very well-regarded wine producer in the Napa Valley. It is therefore more of a premium option for your tastebuds.
Enjoy your rosé tinnies!
