We in generation rent know a thing or two about moving house. We also know a lot about working smarter, not harder (and Ikea).
All of those things have come together in one simple hack, utilising those huge Ikea bags we all have sitting in the cupboard.
On the Grown and Flown Facebook page, one woman wrote: ‘Not sure if anyone else has already figured this out, but I thought I’d share one way we used the life changing IKEA bags with this year’s move in.’
Pictures showed the woman using a 20 gallon Ikea Frakta bag to close over clothes while they’re still in the hanger.
From there, the bag can be zipped up leaving the hangers exposed, so you can pick them straight up and take them to the next location.
The large Frakta bag costs £3 at Ikea, and is made from a durable material so it holds a lot more than you might expect.
The zip function saves you having to take everything off the hanger, fold the clothes into boxes and put them back. This way you just re-hang them at the new place and unzip the bag again.
The photo has now been liked thousands of times, and comments poured in from people praising the hack.
‘Just used the IKEA bags for some of my house move, absolutely fantastic!’ one said.
Another added: ‘Love these bags and they hold a lot! I have used them the past two years.’
A third wrote ‘Yes! We just did this, I couldn’t believe how much fit in those bags.’
Have you got a great hack you’d love to share?
