There’s that moment we’ve all had; the one where we’re starting to fall asleep and begin dreaming about falling before ‘landing’ awake on our bed in shock.
Although it’s somewhat jarring, the best part is realising that actually you’re safe in your comfortable bed and not falling at all.
If you lived in this flat in Worthing, you would never know that oh-so-relatable feeling, because there’s a good chance that you’d actually wake up falling – and down your stairs at that.
Highlighted by Unfortunatalie on Twitter, this £125,000 studio flat located in Worthing might otherwise be a great buy, except for the bed located directly above the stairs.
The photograph of the unique design decision has baffled Natalie’s followers, and got many of them bemoaning the state of the British property market at present.
Located in Worthing in West Sussex, this particular home is described by agents Symonds as ‘a spacious and well converted top floor studio flat’ and comprises of a kitchen area, a bathroom, and a studio area.
Although it does say on the property listing ‘the studio room has a built in bed over the stairs,’ it hasn’t been made clear why the owner made this decision or whether the pictured step ladder to actually get up there is included.
There’s every probability that that wood the mattress is placed on is strong and sturdy, but for some it’s just not a risk they’re willing to take.
One person replied to Natalie’s original tweet saying: ‘How is that bed legal you roll over and you DIE.’
Another said: ‘Jesus the thought of trying to shag in that bed is giving me RAGING anxiety.’
We may joke, but it wasn’t too scary a thought for someone by the looks of things, as it’s now been taken off the market (presumably because it’s sold).
Congratulations to the buyer, but may we recommend a baby bed guard? Better safe than sorry, right?
