Kim Burns hated her plain white doors that were upstairs in her house.
She had looked at buying new ones and she liked the shaker style, but said it was going to cost about £100 per door.
So, instead, the mum, from Gloucestershire, decided to transform the ones she already had.
She shared the results on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group.
She and her partner bought strips of wood, which cost a total of £40.
They bought 24 pieces of 8ft by 4.5″ 9mm plywood.
They stuck a frame around the edge of the door and then three strips across the middle to create the shaker style, which means it has a framed flat central panel.
They used adhesive and small nails to secure everything to the door.
She then painted the whole door with white paint to blend it all together.
She said: ‘I absolutely hate my upstairs doors and they are stupid sizes so no way am I spending £100+ per door so me and the other half made our own shaker doors.
‘Cost £40 for the wood. Massive saving! we did leave a little gap so the doors would close.’
Other people loves the idea and said that they wanted to give it a go too.
One said: ‘Fantastic job, and upcycling so much better than buying new. The massive saving is a huge cherry on the top. We’ll done and Thank you for sharing.’
Another added: ‘This is awesome. We have similar doors and I hate them too.’
