It’s not just burgers and fries that McDonald’s fans are missing.
Some love the sweeter dishes on the menu too.
One man, who posts on TikTok as @caughtsnackin, has been creating apple pies, just like the ones found at the fast food chain.
To make them, you need 25g butter, four apples (peeled and chopped), 30g of sugar, one teaspoon of cinnamon and a puff pastry sheet.
It’s really simple to follow – he mixes the butter, apple, sugar and cinnamon in a saucepan and lets it bubble and caramelise.
Then he cuts strips of puff pastry, puts the apple mixture on one half and folds the other half over the top.
He uses a fork around the edge to seal the mixture in and prevent it seeping out.
To cook the apple pies, he cooks them in a deep fat fryer at 180 C for a few minutes until they are golden and crispy.
He says that you can bake them in the oven too if you don’t have a deep fat fryer or you want to make them a tiny bit healthier.
He jokes: ‘McDonald’s got the recipe from me.’
Fans of his page loved the idea and said they were keen to try it out themselves.
‘Aww that looks so good,’ one said.
As his TikTok name suggests, it’s not the only snack he’s been cooking up in lockdown as most restaurants are still closed, with some only offering delivery in selected areas.
He’s also recreated the Tango Ice Blast at home with just four ingredients so you can have that real cinema experience, even if you are just watching Netflix.
