With lockdown still holding strong, fast food chains are finding new ways to get their signature dishes to customers.
Leon, which has closed all of its stores for dining-in at the moment (but is still offering takeway in selected locations) has released one of its most popular products, to be sold in supermarkets.
Rejoice, for you can now pick up the brand’s gluten-free waffle fries and make them at home.
In addition, Leon has also launched three vegan sauces: LOVe Burger Sauce, Korean Chilli Mayo and Harissa & Sundried Aioli.
The products will be sold exclusively in Sainsbury’s stores and come just in time for the bank holiday BBQ, so that you can pair your meat with tasty sides.
Leon’s waffle fries, of which the brand sold 2.5million portions in 2019, costs £1.50 – however, it’s been advised that this is an ‘introductory offer for four weeks’ so don’t be surprised if it’s hiked up after that period.
Meanwhile the sauces are all offered at £2.50.
‘We know how much our customers love our baked waffle fries and vegan sauces, so we’re excited to be expanding our Grocery range to help more people enjoy naturally fast food at home,’ Charlotte Di Cello, chief commercial officer at Leon.
In other food news, if you don’t fancy leaving your house for a trip to the supermarket, you could do as this mum did, and forage your goodies.
Joanna Ruminska spends up to 14 hours looking for ingredients near her home in Plymouth, before cooking up a storm.
Or do both? You’ll need vegetables with your BBQ dishes.
