Missing the pub in lockdown? Or are you longing to hit the gym?
The Glasson family’s shed ticks off both of those quarantine dreams.
Over the course of two weeks, the family has crafted their perfect shed to see out lockdown, complete with a gym and a bar.
Dad Lyndon, 55, always wanted his own back garden boozer but never had the time to tackle the DIY challenge.
But when the coronavirus pandemic hit and he was stuck inside for hours a day, he decided to start building.
From morning ’til night, Lyndon, wife Cathy, son Sam, daughter Laura, and their children’s partners (who are living in the same household, don’t panic) worked to build the shed.
They’re now enjoying the results of their hard work, using the shed to sip drinks or lift weights while cooped up indoors.
They’ve named their creation Glasson Bar.
Lyndon said: ‘My daughter’s boyfriend’s family were getting rid of a large shed and we have always wanted a bar.
‘But it’s not just for drinking – we use it for as a gym as well. We want to make it clear that we are not a family of p***heads!
‘We’ve got a spin bike and a few machines in there.
‘As soon as lockdown happened we decided to make a start. We built a base and took it from there.
‘We were working until late – when it was going dark.
‘Most of it was done with bits of wood that we had. Six of us were filling in, doing repairs and painting.
‘My son, Sam, works in construction – he did a lot of it. But we have all done our bit. Everyone learned as they tried things.
‘We are now adding to it all the time. We want to make it better.
“It gets used as much as a gym as a bar. It’s a gym during the day. It’s an extra room in the house.
‘Everyone that knows us has said they can’t wait to come over and see it. We will do a big BBQ, or party – when we can.
‘It’s all been a bit of fun.
‘We’ve already had a few drunken nights in there – and we’re looking forward to many more.’
