This year, the Early May Bank Holiday was moved to today, Friday 8 May, to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
The long weekend was planned to be an extended celebration of the end of the Second World War in Europe, with street parties planned, a parade down The Mall, Churchill’s speech being broadcast in public spaces and pubs open late.
Coronavirus has obviously caused these plans to change, but Brits are adapting with At Home VE Day celebrations planned. If you need to stock up, which supermarkets are still open?
Read on for Co-op’s opening hours this bank holiday…
Co-op bank holiday opening hours
Most Co-op stores are expected to be open as normal on this bank holiday; however, their website informs customers that some might be operating under different hours.
The best thing to do is to check the opening times of your local stores using the online Co-Op Finder.
Despite coronavirus cancelling a lot of the original plans, there’s still a lot happening for VE Day 2020 if you wanted to get down to your local Co-op to stock up.
There is a ‘Nation’s Toast to the Heroes’ at 3pm where people are being asked to raise a toast to those who served alongside Dame Joan Collins, and the Queen’s Speech at 9pm.
