If your first words were particularly interesting then your parents might like to remind you about it all the time.
Those born in the digital age might even have it on film.
One family didn’t intend to catch their son’s first words on camera – but they were glad they did when the first thing he uttered was ‘I love you’.
Aimee-Jane Strang, 20 and her partner William Ronan, 22, from Glasgow, Scotland were taking a video of themselves together with their 15-month-old son Blair, when they heard him speak his first sentence.
William told Blair ‘I love you’ and the tot managed to repeat the entire sentence to him in full.
His parents managed to capture the sweet moment on camera and their excited reaction says it all.
Aimee posted the video on her Twitter page with the caption: ‘Am sorry but twitter had to see this too. Ignore us it was the first time he’s ever said it back.’
The video has since gone viral, gaining over 1.4 million views as users gushed over Blair’s adorable reaction to his parents’ excitement.
One user said: ‘OMG his wee face he is so so chuffed this is actually the best content ever’.
Another added: ‘This made my heart so happy.’
Meanwhile, one wrote: ‘I can’t stop watching this and smiling. absolute happiness.’
Speaking about the moment, Aimee said: ‘We were so surprised as we tell him we love him all the time and at that moment he said it back.
‘As you can see by the video we were buzzing!
‘We are now teaching him animal sounds. He has said quack so far!
‘He can now say mum, dad, hiya and bubbles!’
