Coronavirus has put paid to every aspect of life in the UK as the country remains in lockdown, with the restrictions set to be further extended in the wake of the pandemic.
And for many people that’s meant having to celebrate their birthdays behind closed doors also – with folks across the world having to make the best of their big day as all non-essential shops and services remain closed.
That doesn’t mean you can’t mark your friend or relative’s big day by sending them a card, and some places have even put a topical stamp on their birthday card range, with reference to the current isolation sweeping the world.
But just where can you get birthday cards at the moment – topical or otherwise?
Where can you get birthday cards during lockdown?
Royal Mail is continuing to operate during lockdown so you can still post a card to someone celebrating – with the postal service having confirmed on their website they are operating in line with advice from Public Health England.
The risk of someone contracting Covid-19 from a letter or package is low – with Royal Mail having said that such viruses ‘don’t survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels.’
While popping to the nearest card shop might be off limits, many of the shops allowed to remain open during lockdown are likely to sell cards.

While sending a birthday card in the mail is still possible, those who are self-isolating or shielding at this time can still remember loved ones on their birthdays by ordering a card online and having it sent directly to the person celebrating (so no need to leave the house at all).
Moonpig is still operating at this time, offering both regular cards and a special self-isolation range, while customers can also order flowers and gifts via the site- although they have said on their site that due to demand deliveries might currently take longer than usual.
You can also send cards and gifts via Funky Pigeon – who have also warned that deliveries could take up to five days longer than usual in the current climate.
Or if you’re looking for something more apt for our current times, Thortful currently has a range of lockdown cards on offer.
The site, like others, have once again said that some orders may currently take longer to arrive than usual.
Scribbler is another retailer which currently has self-isolation cards on offer, as well as its regular range of cards for all occasions including birthdays.
