As the coronavirus pandemic continues to grip the globe, the UK is getting used to life under lockdown – with non-essential shops and services shut as well as schools having closed their gates.
And that means many parents have been left with the job of homeschooling their children, following the closure of schools across the country – with many turning to websites and online resources for help.
Among those offering free access to their sites at the moment is Purple Mash – but just what is the site, and how does it work?
Here’s what you need to know…
What is Purple Mash?
Purple Mash is a creative online space aimed at primary school teachers and pupils, which aims to inspire creative learning both at school and at home.

It covers spelling, grammar and maths as well as other work related to the curriculum and various open ended tools allowing children to try their hand at story creation, art and game design, among other things.
Normally it’s a subscription service but in the wake of coronavirus makers 2Simple are offering free access to users.
They’re also offering advice for schools in the wake of the closures in how to keep learning going in the wake of the pandemic and lockdown.
How can you get Purple Mash?
If you want to use the service for yourself you can request the current free access here.
You can currently get up to 60 days free of both Purple Mash and Serial Mash, which is an online library of children’s books.
