Remember before lockdown when one of our biggest daily gripes included the London Underground?
What silly fools we all were.
Now, as we try to survive a global pandemic, it seems some of us are missing the daily commute.
Three housemates have recreated their former morning routine by using their shower and pretending they’re on a tube carriage.
Rowan Akin-Smith, 26, and his housemates Felix McKechnie, 27, and Pablo Hutchinson, 25, are all ‘avid riders’ of the tube, using it daily for their commute to and from work.
The trio, who live together in Clapham, south London, have since started missing their journeys as they work from home during the coronavirus lockdown.
The funny video shows the three young men all crammed into the shower cubicle in their bathroom as if on a busy carriage.
Rowan even managed to find an audio clip on YouTube of the voice of the Jubilee Line, calling out which station their makeshift ‘tube’ was calling at.
The three lads took it in turns exiting and rushing onto the tube, squeezing past each other as they stepped through their sliding shower door.
And one of the housemates, standing out of shot of the camera, kept flicking the bathroom light switch off and on – to replicate a tube travelling through the tunnel.
The funny clip ends with all three of them squeezed together in the shower cubicle, with Pablo – carrying a briefcase – reading a company of The Economist magazine, as the other two glance over his shoulder.
Rowan, who works in sales for a software company, said: ‘People keep saying it’s important to keep a routine now we’re stuck working from home.
‘So we thought, why not re-create our old routine? We’ve got nothing else to do in the evenings.
‘We actually did it as an entry for a virtual pub quiz we did on Friday night.
‘Each team had to submit a funny video. We had half an hour to submit it, but once we’d had the idea, it only took about ten minutes to film.’
And when asked whether he and his housemates were planning to re-create any more daily routines in their home, Rowan said: ‘I think we’ll definitely do some more.
‘One idea we had was for a mock pub in our kitchen. That could be fun.’
Let’s hope we can get a virtual invite to that.
