Large supermarkets must close under UK law in England and Wales on Easter Sunday, however many have opened their doors again on Easter Monday.
Although most major supermarkets are open again today, some will be operating slightly different trading hours to normal due to the bank holiday.
Before travelling to your local supermarket, you should also keep in mind if the store is operating any special shopping hours for the elderly or for NHS workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
What supermarkets are open today on Easter Monday?
Aldi
All Aldi stores will be open between 8am and 8pm today.
Under the supermarket’s new shopping hours during the pandemic, their stores will also be open between 7.30am and 8am exclusively for vulnerable and elderly customers on Easter Monday.
Asda
ASDA will be open from 8am to 8pm today, with NHS staff given the usual priority hour for the first hour of trading.

Co-op
All Co-op stores will remain open on Easter Monday, between the standard hours to 7am and 8pm.
There may be local variations in timetables between branches, so it’s recommended that customers check with their local store before they visit.
Iceland
Iceland’s Easter Monday opening hours are from 9am until 6pm today. Normal trading hours will resume from Tuesday 14 April.

Lidl
Lidl stores should be open between 8am and 8pm today, with those inside the M25 operating their usual hours.
However, opening times may vary depending on the store, so check with your local Lidl before you travel and use the Lidl online store finder to check opening times.
Lidl stores throughout Scotland are open as normal throughout the Easter weekend, including Easter Monday.
Marks & Spencer
All M&S Foodhalls will be open on Easter Monday – including in larger stores.
There has been some change to the opening times of M&S stores in light of the current pandemic, with many stores operating shorter hours and closing by 6pm.
On Mondays, M&S also reserve the first hour of trading in store for older and vulnerable customers.
Opening times will differ depending on the store, so do double-check with your local branch before you visit. You can do so by checking the M&S store finder.
Morrisons
Morrisons will be open from 8am – 8pm on Easter Monday.
Some opening hours may vary from store to store, so if you want to double check with your local branch, you can check the opening hours for your nearest Morrisons with the Morrisons store finder.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s will be open again today, Easter Monday. The supermarket chain is operating under their usual trading hours of 8am to 8pm for larger supermarkets and 7am to 10pm for smaller Local shops.

Tesco
On Easter Monday all Tesco Extras, Superstores and Metro stores will be open between 6am and 10pm in England and Wales.
In Northern Ireland, Extras and Superstores will be open between 10am and 7pm, while in Scotland they will be open between 8am and 8pm. All Express stores will be open for their normal hours.
Opening times may vary between Tesco branches, so it’s always worth double checking your local store’s timetable online before you visit.
Waitrose
Most Waitrose stores will be open from 8am to 8pm on Easter Monday, with some Little Waitrose stores opening slightly later, from 7am to 10pm.
