Gardening aficionados will be able to get their hands on the plants and flowers that were set to showcase at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) cancelled the London exhibition, along with all its other shows, in accordance with the government advice on the coronavirus outbreak.
It also closed its gardens – including shops and cafes – and libraries until 30 June, and postponed the 2020 National RHS Britain in Bloom competition final.
Those who had purchased tickets to any of the cancelled shows will by contacted, and issued a refund within 21 days.
How to buy flowers from the Chelsea Flower Show
The RHS has come up with a solution that allows people to buy the most popular plants of the year, by publishing an A-Z directory of all the nurseries that would’ve been displaying at the show.
From here, you can click on the supplier you’re interested in, and purchase from them directly.
It also encourages gardeners to support and shop straight from the prize-winning independent growers rather than the big chains in the horticultural world.
The guides lists growers from across the globe, outlining their specialities, and linking links to their websites and social media pages.
The RHS is also offering its members a Virtual Chelsea Flower Show which will begin on 19 May and end on 23 May.
It explained it was ‘extremely touched and moved’ by the support and help offered throughout the coronavirus outbreak.
RHS Director General Sue Biggs said: ‘When so many people, businesses, charities and everyone in the horticultural industry are going through such tough and challenging times, we are even more grateful for this support and people taking time to get in touch.
‘We cannot create the actual show at The Royal Hospital Chelsea, but we are looking at what we can do on our RHS website and other platforms for people to enjoy and to share the joy of gardening.
‘We will of course be asking for the ideas and involvement of growers, nurseries, designers, landscapers and tradestands too and look forward to sharing ideas very soon.’
The RHS will also host an exclusive members’ week once the gardens have reopened in summer.
