Love in the time of coronavirus might be hard; you have to socially distance yourself from one another if you don’t live together. If you do then there’s no escape, you’re stuck in the house with them.

For those hoping to get married, it’s even tougher as large gatherings get cancelled.

Two women from New York, however, are not letting the pandemic get in the way of celebrating their love.

Reilly Jennings, 28 and Amanda Wheeler, 38, got married on a New York street by an officiant who leaned out of his fourth-floor window to follow social distancing rules.

The couple moved up their wedding due to concerns the coronavirus outbreak would impact their venue and travel plans

Both also were concerned because the gym where Amanda is employed shut down because of the outbreak.

They were also were unable to get married when the city’s official marriage license office closed.

The couple then turned to their friend and licensed marriage officiant Matt Wilson to perform the wedding while he hung his head out from a four-story window.

Onlookers took pictures as Amanda and Reilly tied the knot on the street in Manhattan’s Washington Heights section.

The happily married couple cosied up for a kiss to make their union official.

‘It was the most New York moment ever and was even more special to share with the entire neighborhood in such a scary and uncertain time,’ Reilly told CNN. ‘I love this city.’

The duo had visited The New York City Marriage Bureau to obtain a marriage license and when they went back the next day, ready to get married, they found out that mayor Bill de Blasio had shuttered the bureau indefinitely.

Reilly explained: ‘After a sombre afternoon, one of our friends texted us on a group chat, letting us know he was ordained by the county clerk of New York and could do it.

‘We texted, “Wanna marry us outside your window in the next 24hrs?” and he said “YES!” To that I replied, “How about in 90 minutes?”.

‘We both finished up work meetings, got dressed, picked up some flowers, and headed to his apartment around the corner.’

Matt, who was self-distancing, shouted from the windows: ‘Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and keep her for as long as you both shall live?.

The couple happily shouted back ‘we do’.

Friends and neighbors cheered while keeping a distance.

‘We got to share our love with more people than we ever could have imagined,’ said Reilly. ‘And that’s the best part.’
