From today, workers for the NHS, police, or fire service will have priority in all Aldi stores no matter when they shop.
Where store colleagues are limiting the number of customers in store, any emergency workers with a relevant form of ID will be allowed to enter the store as soon as social distancing guidelines permit.
Many supermarkets have announced specific times for emergency workers specifically, but this will benefit those with certain shifts who are unable to get in to buy essentials at these times.
Aldi also announced last week that they’re opening stores half an hour earlier for these workers, but this will give public service staff a little more leeway if their timings are different.
All NHS, police, and fire service staff need to do is show their ID at the door, and they’ll be allowed to the front of the queue.
This comes as major supermarkets have introduced social distancing measures, allowing only a certain number of people to shop at each time, and enforcing two-metre distances between customers.
Not only is this to keep staff and shoppers protected, but to allow people to get the essentials they need in time for workers to restock.
In most stores, product or spending limits are in place to make this happen too, with certain items like toilet paper being restricted to one or two packs per customer.
Aldi’s emergency worker priority scheme will be in place from today, so keep an eye out and ensure that these key staff are able to make use of it without any fuss.
