Coral Heavyside wore her dream blue ball gown to her prom night.

She adored the gown but in the years that followed, it just hung in her wardrobe as she had no reason to wear it.

10 years on, the 26-year-old, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, decided to give it a new lease of life and pass it on to someone else who needed it.

Last year, she gave it to Jazmine Craig, 16, for her big night and Coral did her nails, while a friend, Tiffany Williams, did her hair.

Now, after Jazmine’s prom taking place last summer, she has decided to pass the dress onto another girl who might need it.

The hope is that people will continue to pass the dress can on for girls who are struggling with the high costs of prom night.

And they hope they might even inspire other people to do the same in the future with their own dresses.

She tells Metro.co.uk: ‘The dress had been in my wardrobe for a long time and I thought why not give it away. It’s not going to any use sat away!

‘It’s such a lovely dress and I wanted to help someone who was struggling with prom. It’s an expensive event and not everyone can afford it and due to that some people don’t go to prom, so I wanted to make it happen.

‘Last year I thought the best way to do would be first come first served, so I went in the order of people that messaged me on Facebook. If someone didn’t like it or it didn’t fit, I let the next person in line know and so on.

‘A friend of Jazmine’s mum contacted me and asked if would consider her, so I contacted Jazmine and it went from there.’

The dress is a size 10-12 and when Jazmine tried it on, it fitted beautifully. As soon as she realised it would be hers for the night, she asked if she could pass it on to someone else afterwards.

On the day, Coral and Tiffany helped to finish off her look as she headed off with her friends.

‘It felt amazing seeing her in the dress, she looked beautiful!’ Coral says.

Now, Coral and Jazmine, who is now a business administration apprentice for Greater Manchester Police, are trying to find the next person to wear the dress to their prom this summer.

Coral adds: ‘We want to make sure that this goes to someone who really needs it, I’ve had a few messages from teachers at various schools who have said they know a few girls who would really benefit from this, so I am just waiting to hear back from them.

‘It’s really hard trying to decide who it goes to when there are a lot of people to consider but myself and Jazmine will make the final decision.

‘The plan for this year is the same – I will do the nails, Tiffany will do the hair and a local salon will do the makeup for a discounted price in which myself and Jazmine will pay for.’

If you know someone who would like to wear Jazmine and Coral’s dress, contact them on Facebook.
