Man rescues kittens with tails frozen into the snow with his hot coffee

We don’t need research to tell us that coffee saves lives (many a morning has been saved from a sleep-deprived haze).

And now our fave hot beverage is saving kittens.

One man had to think quickly when he saw three wee cats submerged in heavy snow.

Kendall Diwisch, a Canadian oil worker from Alberta, Canada, saw the kittens struggling after they got their tails trapped.

The three kitties were unable to move and with the freezing temperatures, were in a dangerous position.

Having been trapped overnight, the rescue operation needed to be quick so Kendall grabbed the only warm thing he had – his flask of coffee.

The quick-thinker then poured the hot drink on the ice to melt it.

To his surprise, the kitties started drinking it (don’t worry, it wasn’t scalding hot).

As the temperature of the coffee wasn’t hot enough, the ice didn’t start to melt away but it did soften, allowing Kendall to pull the kittens out with his hands (none of them were harmed).

Kendall then took them home to feed them and warm them up.

Not all heroes wear capes, as the saying goes.

Kendall – who was shocked to see the critters stranded on the back roads – immediately took them home.

After they’d been fed and warmed up, Kendall dewormed them in hopes of getting them adopted.

The kind man then took to Facebook to post about the kitties and tell the story of their dramatic rescue.

He wrote: ‘So today I found these three fellows on one of the back roads near one of my wells. Most likely dropped off. Poor things were frozen into the ice so they had to have been there all night.

‘Took them home fed and watered them they look to be healthy and friendly. If any friends are looking to have a new addition in their family, let us know as they will need homes.

‘All three look to be males, and we also gave them dewormer.’

He then updated the post to deliver the wonderful news that they were now rehomed and living together.

‘All three little rascals went to their new home today where they get to be together instead of separating them,’ he said.

‘All three are eating and drinking and very energetic.’

It’s no surprise that the siblings were rehomed quickly as Kendall’s initial post quickly went viral, with many offering to take them in.

An animal shelter, Cause for Critters, revealed on their Facebook page that the kittens were taken in by a family also living in Drayton Valley.

Happy days.
