Picturesque beaches and infinity pools don’t come cheap.
So when we travel, we want to milk every bit of attention we can get for our supposed jet-setting lifestyle.
And there are some holiday pics that do the rounds so often, they end up annoying our followers.
Hot dog legs, we’re looking at you.
In fact, the classic pose where you snap your legs in front of a view was voted the number one gripe according to a survey of 2,000 people.
In research carried out by Hilton hotel, one in four said they get wound up by images of tanning legs which are almost indistinguishable from frankfurters.
Boastful behaviour on social media is generally quite irritating but when it comes to travelling, more so.
The second biggest bugbear for respondents was anyone captioning their posts with ‘my Monday is better than yours’.
If you’re thinking ‘I’ve not done either of those things,’ then don’t celebrate just yet – you could still be annoying.
One in five social media users said they’d be happy if they never saw another picture of a holiday cocktail.
No, not even the free one you got.
Top ten most annoying social media travel snaps

Other images that annoy Brits include people posing on sun loungers, photos taken out of airplane windows, or generic sunsets (probably to the tune of Sunset Lover).
Instead, over a quarter wish to see more everyday, realistic depictions of travel, according to the hotel brand Hampton by Hilton.
It’s not that your followers hate seeing your sun-kissed glow, it’s more that followers feel the overly-posed pictures are inauthentic.
And interestingly, beachy holidays and exotic escapes make up a small percentage of what Brits actually do with their annual leave.
The research found that Brits spend 35% of their annual leave on traveling for occasions such as weddings, reunions, concerts, sporting events, family birthdays, shopping trips and stag and hen dos.
Ultimately, followers want to see realistic images.
46% of surveyors would prefer to see authentic images of a destination and claimed they would be seven times more likely to book a stay after seeing more realistic depictions.
Now you know what to offer for your next travel.
Or could always forget what the haters want and stunt on the ‘Gram.
