Animal lovers might want to look away now, before they instantly quit their jobs and decide to move to America for this position.
An animal sanctuary in South Carolina is advertising for a very special volunteer role, which means you get to hang out with pigs and even feed them cookies.
A Facebook post by Cotton Branch Farm Sanctuary reads: ‘Do you want to help make a huge difference in the lives of the pigs of Cotton Branch?
‘Come help socialize our adoptable residents so they can move into our adoption program with ease! Belly scratches, cookies, sitting with, and even just talking to our pig friends can get them ready for their new home.’
The farm has around 100 pigs on their premises at any time, and socialisation is an important aspect of their wellbeing.
Pigs can even be trained, and are similar in temperament to dogs. But before they live full-time around people, they need to get used to what human life is like. That’s where these volunteers come in.
Sadly it’s not a full-time job (or we’d be on the plane already) and instead is on a more ad-hoc basis.
This is great if you’re in the area, however, as you don’t need orientation and can simply sign up to have a day with the sweet pigs there.
The slots each last around two hours and go on year-round, so you can always swing by if you’re visiting family or friends – or take a week’s holiday and fly over there for the time of your life.
That’s was a number of Cotton Branch’s fans seem to be doing, and the comments on their page are extremely pure.
One person decided to sign up for their birthday, and one other person said: ‘I honestly would take vacation time to snuggle!’
Us too.
If you think it’s the perfect way to spend some time, you can check out all of Cotton Branch’s volunteering opportunities here.
