Ever dreamed of ditching the nine-to-five and heading off to paradise for a couple of months?
Well, Airbnb could make your dream career-break a reality.
The short-stay travel company is working with the Bahamas National Trust to offer five lucky applicants a two-month sabbatical on a range of stunning Caribbean islands – and it’s all for an incredibly good cause.
If you win a place on the sabbatical, you’ll spend the eight weeks helping to restore the islands after several devastating hurricanes.
You’ll be soaking up the sunshine as you work alongside local experts on traditional practices in agriculture, ethical fishing, and coral reef revitalization.
Flitting between islands Andros, Exumas, and Eleuthera, you will help to create a coral reef restoration program in North Marine Park, take part in traditional boat building, and sailing, and learn propagation techniques for the native trees and establish a bush tea farm.
‘The Bahamas is open for business and while we work to restore parts of the archipelago devastated by Hurricane Dorian, the vast majority is ready for visitors,’ Eric Carey, executive director of the Bahamas National Trust, said in a statement.
‘Partnering with Airbnb is an incredible opportunity to help further preserve our culture and resources and share our diverse country and the Bahamian way of life with the world.’
To apply for the sabbatical, you simply have to apply online, be over 18 and available to be in the Bahamas for two months from April to May 2020.
But this isn’t just a jaunt in the sun. Applicants must really demonstrate their commitment to contributing to island life. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – what have you got to lose?
