If the popularity of ‘I ate my kids’ Halloween candy’ videos are anything to go by, parents love pranking their children.
Expecting the waterworks, one dad from Los Angeles decided to test his two-year-old daughter and see what she did when he gave her the ‘worst present ever’.
The comedian and content creator who goes by LGND on social media filmed his child, little Aria Mojica, opening an early Christmas gift.
Except, he’d packed a banana and was keen to see how disappointed she would be to find the yellow fruit under the festive paper.
But to the parents’ surprise, Aria was not sad, mad or annoyed that she was gifted the everyday household item.
Aria gleefully shouted ‘banana’ flashing her dimples at her mum and dad who were ironically the ones that were surprised.
The unadulterated joy on Aria’s face instantly went viral when LGND shared it on his social media feeds.
Her wholesome reaction has been enjoyed by netizens who watched it more than 20 million times on Twitter.
Over on Instagram, more than 685,000 people tuned in to see Aria enjoy her basic present, which she happily started eating.
We had to catch up with the dad who, as a content creator, thought it might be entertaining to see Aria’s disappointment.
But he and his partner were taken aback by Aria’s sweet reaction.
He told Metro.co.uk: ‘Aria just turned two years old. I was trying to prank her and gift her the “worst Christmas gift ever” and she ended up loving her present.
‘She’s an amazing little girl. Very smart. Very funny. She can definitely light up a room with her wit and sense of humor at such a young age.’
When asked about what kind of gifts she normally gets or is used to receiving, LGND explains that Aria isn’t materialistic.
But that doesn’t mean she won’t be getting a few child-friendly faves.
‘She loves the gift. We don’t just gift her toys. We show her the beauty outside of materialistic things.
‘For Christmas, she’ll be getting toys and more bananas.’
And it seems Aria isn’t the only child delighted to receive a banana.
Other parents proudly showed off their little one’s happiness at receiving some of the more mundane things in life.
But to the child, it seems to be the most special thing in the world.
Now, this might be the only banana worth hanging up as art.
