Do you have a few old earrings lying around? Maybe one went missing years ago and you’ve never got rid of the other one in case it somehow turns up.
If you have old jewellery that you never wear, now is the time to do something meaningful with it.
Gift of a Wedding is a charity that arranges weddings for people with terminal or life-shortening illness.
Working across the UK, they ask wedding businesses to donate products to give clients and their loved ones a day to remember.
And now they want the public to donate jewellery to create special wedding rings.
The jewellery can be made from gold, silver or platinum and can be anything from old earrings to snapped necklaces.
In a post on Facebook, the charity said: ‘We really do need your old or broken jewellery!
‘Do you have any old, broken or damaged gold, silver or platinum jewellery that you no longer need or want? If you do we would love it as we will be able to make wedding rings for our couples from it.
‘So all those snapped necklaces, bracelets, bent rings, wedding rings that are no longer needed and single earrings that you have in your jewellery box and bedroom drawers could help us to make a real difference to our very special couples.’
If you have something lying around and you want donate your items, you can message their Facebook page or email enquiries@giftofawedding.org
The items will be collected and melted down by a jeweller to create the unique rings.
