Rod Stewart has well and truly divided fans as he made his feelings towards Trump known mid-concert as he mocked the former US President with a meme.
The 79-year-old singer is currently on tour in the US and has been performing a series of shows at the Colosseum that began on July 24 and is set to conclude on August 7.
But just months after he was ‘booed’ in Germany for showing the Ukraine flag, the singer has ruffled feathers again as he criticised Trump on stage.
While in Vegas performing, he decided to show a meme that mocked the Former President for being ‘orange’.
The image projected onto the screen behind him showed four images of Trump, with his skin on a gradient going from white to orange.
The caption of the image parodied Trump’s recent comments about Kamala Harris as it read: ‘I didn’t know he was orange until a number of years ago, when he happened to turn orange.
‘I respect either one, but he obviously doesn’t and now he wants to be known as Orange. All of a sudden he made a turn and became an Orange person. I think someone should look into that.’
Some fans loved that Rod was making a joke about the politician, and took to the comment section of his social media to praise the singer.
‘Now I love you more @sirrodstewart 🥰,’ commented seaswirl918.
‘This is savage and I’m so proud of you,’ added barrettpall.
However, his followers were divided and some did not like the fact that the singer gave his opinion about American politics and criticised Trump.
‘People in the entertainment industry should keep their opinions to themselves!! They have no idea about the real world,’ commented utmilitarymom.
‘I’m really trying to figure out your reasoning for this post other than to alienate some of your fans! Probably should stick to music!’ added erikawithak_13.
One fan even claimed that people walked out of the concert when they saw this. ‘It was an amazing show until you did this. I’ve never seen people walk out of your concerts before,’ commented colleen.gray.
The post displayed by the singer was mocking Trump’s recent comments about Harris’s ethnicity as the former President expressed confusion about her Asian American heritage as a half-Black half-Indian woman.
Trump was quoted saying on July 31 at a panel held by the National Association of Black Journalists: ‘She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage.
‘I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black.
‘So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black? I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden she made a turn and she went – she became a Black person.’
