Wendy Williams’ family has claimed that they have been denied access to the former TV show host following her health battle with primary progressive aphasia.

In February this year, it was confirmed that the former talk show host, 60, was Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).

At the time the star released a statement that thanked fans for their support during this time as her full condition was explored in a Lifetime two-part special titled Where Is Wendy Williams?

It was reported that because of her diagnosis, she had been under guardianship for the past two years, and a New York lawyer named Sabrina Morrissey is currently dealing with her finances.

It has now been claimed by members of Wendy’s family that they have been unable to contact her in the past three years since her health deteriorated.

‘Wendy Williams’s family is unable to speak on her current condition and location due to ongoing litigation and the fact that they have largely been denied contact,’ a source told People.

The source said that the family planned to ‘wish her well’ on her 60th birthday – a milestone she marked on July 18th- and praised the star as an ‘icon’.

‘But they are all rooting and praying for Wendy and want to express their well wishes as she celebrates her 60th birthday.’

‘She was, is and always will be an icon,’ the source concluded.

Wendy’s court-ordered guardian, Morrissey did not respond to People about the claims made by the sources.

Wendy’s sister Wanda Finnie has previously claimed that she wasn’t aware of her sister’s diagnosis until after she was placed in a facility.

She also revealed that her family had received no updates on the star since they spent time with her in 2021.

Wanda told People earlier this year: ‘When she was in Florida, there were a number of people involved. Even beyond family, there were doctors involved, people in Wendy’s professional world that were involved. She had a health team in place, nurses in place and she had family in place. She was getting healthier.

‘How did she go from this aunt or sister that we love and is healthy one minute to this person who’s in and out of the hospital? How is that system better than the system the family could put in place? I don’t know. I do know that this system is broken. I hope that at some point, Wendy becomes strong enough where she can speak on her own behalf.’
