Towie star Lauren Goodger has shared a ‘sign’ from above on the second anniversary of her ex-boyfriend’s death.
In 2022, the reality TV icon was left heartbroken when Jake McLean was killed in a car crash, aged just 33.
The fatal collision happened in Bodrum, Turkey while McLean was holidaying with his then-girlfriend and Towie cast member Yazmin Oukhellou, who was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
An inquest later revealed that McLean was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine when he lost control of his Mercedes E-class, which landed upside down in a ravine.
His medical cause of death was listed as ‘traumatic head injuries’.
Lauren dated McLean from 2012 until 2016 and had his name tattooed on her wrist as a symbol of their romance.
Taking to social media to mark two years since McLean’s shocking death, Lauren posted a picture of the ink, which she had started having removed when they first separated.
Lauren didn’t finish the lasering process, but the name ‘Jake’ was mostly faded from her arm.
But, on July 5, the moniker appeared ‘clear as day’, which she believes is a ‘sign’ from her late ex.
Alongside a snap of the faded tat, she began: ‘I had my Jake tattoo removed years ago and I never finished the sessions but it was not that visable… [sic]’
Lauren added: ‘Today my friend said let me see your arm you going keep that and I looked at my wrist and there is Jake’s name clear as day WOW.’
In a separate tribute post, Lauren shared a photo of the two of them, writing: ‘5th July. Thinking of you today Jake always in my heart and thoughts so said.. A terrible loss love always Lauren’.
The influencer has had a tough time of things over recent years.
McLean died just weeks after her second child, Lorena died shortly after birth.
Following the devastation, Lauren was assaulted on the day of her baby’s funeral.
Furthermore, Lauren suffered a rocky time in terms of romance that year, as her relationship with 25-year-old boyfriend Charles Drury was on and off.
In April 2023, Lauren’s grandfather sadly died as well.
The model and TV personality – who is a mum to little girl Larose – has since spoken about disappearing from the limelight and the toll the personal tragedies took on her mentally.
She previously shared the stress had caused her to lose nearly three stone in weight, as she just didn’t eat.
Following her daughter’s death, she said she ‘didn’t want to be here,’ revealing to MailOnline: ‘You’ll never get over it, you never move on but you learn to live and heal.’
‘The only thing that kept me going was being a mum to Larose and that’s why I’m strong and I can put on a brave face,’ Lauren added.
Her two-year-old daughter, whom she also shares with Charles, was described as her ‘whole world’.
She continued: ‘I can’t explain, you would never be able to tell someone the feeling of losing your own child, no one should ever experience that. It changes you as a person because it’s something missing, it’s a heartache feeling every day.’
Lauen has gradually made a return to public life over the last 12 months, saying she had to do it ‘slowly’ and ‘in the right way’.
‘I’m very new to this, like I say, I’ve been through massive trauma, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it but everyone knows and I feel like one day I want to inspire other women.’
