Comedian Joe Lycett has revealed how he has become embroiled in a bitter feud with pop superstar Harry Styles… over a KitKat Chunky (peanut butter).
The Late Night Lycett host, 35, shared a tongue-in-cheek video to his TikTok account detailing how Harry had fallen into debt after purchasing a painting – for the price of £6 and a KitKat chunky peanut butter.
The painting in question? One portrait of the Watermelon Sugar singer with his head looking decidedly pink… and egg-shaped.
Regardless, he was a fan and got in touch, offering to buy the piece.
After means-testing the singer, Joe agreed to the sale, sending Harry an invoice for £6 and a bar of chocolate.
‘So I sent the painting to the address he provided. Obviously I looked it up on Zoopla,’ Joe explained in a new clip. ‘And I put an invoice in there with a reminder that payment is now due.’
However, when Joe did finally receive his payment, it was conspicuously missing one bar of KitKat chunky peanut butter.
Footage showed him opening the envelope from Harry – containing an ineligible note and six clingfilm-wrapped pound coins – and registering his shock at the lack of chocolate inside.
‘There was no KitKat chunky peanut butter!’ Joe exclaimed. ‘Harry has now entirely stopped responding to me. God, I feel like Zayn.’
‘What do I do?’
‘What does the note say?’ he continued – referring to Harry’s impenetrable handwriting. ‘AND WHERE IS MY KITKAT?’
This isn’t the first time Joe has clashed with the rich and famous (just ask former Prime Minister Liz Truss) – holding David Beckham to ransom in 2022 by demanding that he drop out as an ambassador for the World Cup in Qatar.
Threatening to shred £10,000 to bits live on TV if the former England captain didn’t accede to his demands, Joe revealed that the whole thing had been a stunt, and had actually donated the cash to charity instead of shredding it.
Thankfully for Harry, his current demands for a KitKat chunky are a little more jokey than that.
Meanwhile, the comic recently wrapped up the second series run of his self-styled chat show Late Night Lycett on Channel 4.
A typically chaotic run of episodes saw Danny Dyer call David Cameron a c*** live on television and featured a segment from Sinitta broadcast from a nudist spa.
The show went on to win a Bafta, earning Joe a trophy for Entertainment Performance 2024 – which he collected while dressed as Queen Elizabeth I, after losing a bet during that week’s show.
Discussing his win, Joe told a press conference afterwards that it’s ‘Birmingham time,’ and spoke out on the importance of diversity in entertainment.
‘I’ve been on some very unhappy productions and often they’re the ones that are just about the bottom line and just want to make money. And actually the ones where you do bring people up… I think it’s good for everyone and it’s good for the show.’
The show, which is filmed in Digbeth in Birmingham, offers work to local people looking to get into the industry.
