Aisling Bea has announced she’s pregnant with a hilarious series of photos showing off her baby bump.
The Irish comedian, 40, shared the exciting news on social media on Monday night, joking she only got pregnant for a very particular reason.
‘Dignity Intact. Got pregnant so I could try & put something beside Paul Rudd’s face to make him look older,’ she captioned her post, which saw her exposed belly with a smiley face drawn on it while fellow comedian Paul put his face up against her growing bump.
She then explained that her unusual set of photos had been taken at a charity event in Kansas City over the weekend, where she was snapped alongside Travis Kelce and also acted as a back-up dancer for Sheryl Crow.
‘Thanks to the @bigslickkc , Paul, @sethherzog super boy @travisKelce & mostly our angel @sherylcrow for helping me show off my bump in the most dignified & classy way possible. Sheryl said myself & Seth could be her very professional back up dancers with our ridiculous idea, how on brand! She really does just wanna have some fun, yawl.’
She then went on to thank both her partner and make-up artist for their assistance.
‘And thanks to @jackoby.freeman & @elsie for doing full bump glam & to one of them in particular for getting me pregaroo in the first place,’ she continued.
However she concluded the post with a stark warning.
‘Just to note if you use sharpie pen on your skin, it will be there for about two days.
‘Just if you are weighing up what a commitment to a joke is worth. Gentle dermatitis is the answer.’
Her announcement post was quickly flooded with messages of support.
‘Aaah congratulations!!’ Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan commented.
‘this. is. so. iconic,’ Heartstopper’s Sebastian Croft wrote.
Jedward also added: ‘Let’s go baby momma you gonna have such a cool future.’
Soon after she edited the post to add: ‘**edit to save myself admin. Yes I am pregnant. This time it’s not a joke about bread.’
Last year Aisling’s partner Jack Freeman, a composer and producer, posted a series of photos of the comedian.
‘To 1 whole year with m’lady,’ he captioned the post.
In 2021 Aisling had to deny she was pregnant after posting a photo of her stomach bloat that had been sparked by simply eating bread.
Despite telling her followers that the ‘bump’ was a food baby rather than an actual baby, some failed to read her caption before sending their congratulations.
Aisling posted a photo of her in a pink floral dress with a hair net on, joking: ‘It’s a bread! Excited to announce that I have not & will not give up bread.’
She later added: ‘Alas from some texts I’ve been getting – may I highlight that I am NOT pregnant. I am very bloated.’
The creator, writer and star of the Channel 4 comedy series This Way Up, Aisling has also appeared in Drunk History and Taskmaster and in Doctor Who and Alice & Jack.
