Ant Middleton declares ‘very close friend’ Nigel Farage ‘a true gentleman’

Ant Middleton has thrown his support behind the Reform Party leader Nigel Farage amid his return to frontline politics.

The former SAS: Who Dares Wins star, who previously took aim at politician Matt Hancock over his stint on the programme, branded Farage a ‘true gentleman’ – but his comments haven’t gone down well.

Speaking to GB News ahead of the upcoming election, after Farage was met with a rather unfriendly start to his election campaign, Middleton said ‘there’s only one thing that should happen’.

He went on: ‘Who made the decision for us to break away from the European Union? Nigel Farage, right. And he’s coming again. That guy is a true English gentleman who relates with the public.

‘Unfortunately he’s had his voice silenced [before] but that guy changed the European Union with Brexit. He came in and he went out but he’s coming back in now, so listen to him.

‘Hopefully he’ll stay this time if things do work in his favour, he won’t bail out and he’ll stay. But I believe that’s the only way we have moving forward.’

Middleton added that Farage is a ‘very close friend’ of his, having met a few times.

And though he said he ‘supports him in many ways’, the soldier admitted he disagrees ‘with some of the things that he says and I disagree with how he goes about them’.

He continued: ‘I’m a humanitarian, I love people, I think immigration is a very sensitive subject [but] I think it benefits us hugely when we get it right.

‘When we decide to ignore it, we get it wrong massively.’

As the story was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, @exception379 commented: ‘Oh no. I quite liked Ant Middleton, as well. Shame.’

‘Oh, thank goodness Ant has signed it off…’ @castle1_castle sarcastically added.

Ant became one of the most prominent figures on brutal Channel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins, before it was announced in 2022 that he would not be returning to his role as chief instructor due to ‘personal conduct.’

This isn’t the first time Ant has expressed divisive views, as Channel 4 was previously forced to say his opinions regarding Black Lives Matter and Covid-19 do not align with their own ‘views and values.’
