It wouldn’t be live TV without a few blunders, and the Saturday Night Takeaway finale was no different.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were forced to apologise when one Nottingham-resident forgot he was on the family friendly show, blurting out ‘s**t’ as he nearly missed his opportunity to win a ‘takeaway getaway’.

During the classic ‘Ring My Bell’ segment of the show, people around the country were tasked with turning up at a stranger’s door with various household objects in hand.

This time, it was a wheelie bin, a duvet and a hat, and one audience member’s neighbours in Nottingham gathered around his front yard to play.

But when one resident brought all three items along, he managed to forget to actually ring the doorbell, leaving Ant and Dec reminding him, before he cursed and searched around for the bell.

Thankfully, he managed to still be the first to complete the task at hand, winning himself a lucky holiday.

And while Ant later apologised for the language, viewers were far more distracted by a cheeky innuendo they heard.

At one point, referring to the contestant bringing a helmet to his neighbour’s house, as his choice of hat, Ant quipped: ‘We can see your helmet!’

‘What?’ Dec replied, to which Ant clarified: ‘On his head.’

”We can see your helmet’ is a thing that was just said on prime time Saturday night telly…,’ viewer Steve laughed.

Leah wrote on X: ‘‘We can see your helmet’ ooh Ant you are in a cheeky mood tonight.’

Tom added: ‘Apologising for swearing then they crack a joke about his helmet being on show! Brilliant!’

The blunder came moments into the show’s final episode, before they go on hiatus.

The Geordie duo, both 48, are wrapping up their 20th season of the variety show with a whole host of guests, including the likes of S Club 7, Girls Aloud, Simon CowellAmanda HoldenDermot O’LearyAlison Hammond and Holly Willoughby.

It was announced last year that this would be the last season of Saturday Night Takeaway ‘for a little while’.

At the time they said the show ‘takes up such a lot of our year’ and they needed a ‘little bit of a breather’.

And it’s certainly ended on a bang, with a ‘super-sized show’ following a season of tear-jerking moments, epic celebrity pranks and even the occasional blunder or two.

Saturday Night Takeaway is available to watch on ITVX.
