Stand Up To Cancer’s Celebrity Bake Off caused a ruckus online when viewers became convinced Alison Hammond gave a sweary order to a contestant.
David Doherty, Suzi Ruffell, Gabby Logan and Oti Mabuse put their baking skills to the test on the Channel 4 special on Easter Sunday.
Gabby eventually clinched the title of Star Baker, while David had an impressive redemption after his first cake was given the unenviable description of ‘revolting’ by Prue Leith.
But there was one moment in particular that got fans talking online: did Alison tell a contestant to get her ‘s**t together’?
Fans flew to social media after Gabby despaired when her meringue began falling apart, and Alison tried to get her back on track by assuring her it would still taste good.
She then said something that may have been ‘get that sheet together,’ or potentially ‘ganache it together’ — but viewers were convinced it was something else, something that shouldn’t have been said before the watershed.
X user Nicola took to the site to ask ‘Did @AlisonHammond just tell #Gabby to get that sh*t together???’ along with a laughing emoji.
Daran Phillipson heard the same, asking ‘Did Alison just [say] get your s**t together and you will be ok?,’ with Nicola agreeing ‘I thought so too, I had to rewind the check!’
And user Nordic Laura said she had also thought the same.
However she added she now thinks Alison said ‘get your ganache and stick it together,’ which considering the context was much more likely.
It was David who got the very, er, critical constructive criticism, after his banoffi was described as ‘not edible’ and ‘revolting’.
He admitted later that he had ‘never received a review as bad,’ calling it ‘a bloodbath’.
His next bake, party rings, didn’t fare much better, being called ‘underbaked’ and ‘terrible’.
However his final attempt, a meringue, got an ‘I like it’ from Prue, leading to a round of applause from everyone in the Bake Off tent.
Celebrity Bake Off returns Sunday April 7 on Channel 4; reps for Alison were contacted for comment.
